Hurricane Gustav

To all of our friends in the Gulf Coast, I hope that you have weathered the storm safely and are able to get home and dry out quickly. We are thinking of you!


Hurricane Hannah

Even further on the storm front, Hurricane Hannah (which just happens to be the name of a restaurant at the Yacht Club Resort), actually it is just a tropical storm at the moment, is headed for the eastern coast of Florida and the Georgia coast. We’ll have to see what path it takes on its way to land. Those of you headed to the World, pack those ponchos, even if the storm by passes Florida you are bound to get some residual wet.


Thomas Kinkade Debuts New Disney Themed Painting

Thomas Kinkade, painter of light, has a new Disney themed painting: “Snow White Discovers the Cottage” (are they all paintings? I’m a little confused) made its debut last week. The painting, part of the Timeless Disney Moments Collection is based on Disney archives of the classic movie along with Kinkade’s own imagination. Kinkade has said the Disney is one of his heroes and from growing up.


DCL in Alaska

Disney Cruiseline is considering going north. They have applied for a 10 year permit to visit Glacier Bay in Alaska. Glacier Bay is a National Park that only allows a few permits for cruise ships to limit the impact on the environment. Cruisecritic.com is stating that this is a “clear sign” that Disney is considering an Alaskan itinerary.


Disneyland Fets Two Castmember Heroes

Disneyland threw a parade for two of his employees last week. Robert Olvera, who works in the paint shop, and Juan Morales, a server at Hook’s Pointe were honored as local heroes. The two were honored for separately saving two men’s lives. Olvera rescued a man from wrecked semi truck. He credited training he received at Disney for assisting him in saving the man safely. Morales talked a man down who intended to jump from an overpass.
